Guide for connection of FRP pipes

First of all, before the preparation of the FRP pipeline docking, the surface of the end of the pipeline will need to be cleaned first, the film will be torn off, and if there is oil, it also needs to be removed and dried.

Setup procedure

a)Aging treatment

FRP pieces immediately removed from the mold should not be used for bonding and sealing. They need to be aged to remove some substances, such as monomer styrene and other volatile substances, that were not fully reacted during the fabrication of FRP pieces. In addition, aging treatment is also helpful to release and eliminate the internal stress of FRP. Here, the aging treatment refers to the FRP at 23 degrees Celsius, the relative humidity of 50% conditions, at least two weeks. The FRP should also be heated at 60 ~ 80 ℃ for 4 ~ 6 hours before aging treatment.

b)Polishing

After aging treatment of FRP, it is necessary to use coarse emery cloth generally 80# ~ 120# to grind on its surface, remove some chemical substances precipitated in the aging process.

c)Clean

Cleaner and adhesive should be used together. The cleaning agent used generally has two purposes: ① cleaning. Press industrial wipe paper over the top of the bottle and shake it gently to make sure that only a very small amount of detergent is on the paper towel. When wiping, it can only be wiped in one direction, not allowed to wipe back and forth. Immediately after cleaning, wipe the detergent dry with a dry paper towel (there should be no stains on the paper towel). After cleaning, let it dry for a period of time according to the temperature condition to ensure that the detergent is completely dry. ②activation. The cleaning agent matching with the adhesive generally has the function of activating the substrate, so that the adhesive and the substrate have better adhesion.

D)Base coat

Bus with FRP parts are generally translucent, and some are even transparent. This makes the ultraviolet light can pass through the FRP directly and act on the adhesive, thus accelerating the aging of the adhesive, reducing the adhesion of the adhesive, and even causing bonding failure. Therefore, a layer of bottom coating should be brushed on the FRP before bonding to block ultraviolet radiation. If the penetration rate of ultraviolet ray to FRP is less than 0.5%, or the penetration rate of visible light is less than 20%, brushing the bottom of the bonding part of FRP can effectively prevent the damage of ultraviolet ray to the adhesive. If the penetration rate of ultraviolet or visible light exceeds the above limits, in addition to the method of brushing bottom coating, masking tape or opaque material must be used to cover the adhesive layer, otherwise it is not able to completely prevent the damage of ultraviolet light to the adhesive. As the body frame of the bonding surface, it should be designed and arranged according to the characteristics of the bonding process to make it beneficial to the bonding. Before FRP bonding, the processing method of the skeleton to be bonded surface (generally carbon steel or galvanized profile or aluminum profile) is the same as that of FRP parts, that is, polishing and cleaning the bottom coat.

E)Gumming

Apply polyurethane glue or silica gel on the body frame, and the shape of the glue should be triangular. The size of the triangle depends on the thickness and width of the adhesive layer. When the FRP is bonded to the skeleton, the triangular shape also helps to completely expel air from the adhesive, avoiding the presence of air in the adhesive to form a bonding defect.

F) Matters needing attention in the bonding process.

①Before the adhesive surface will significantly weaken the adhesive adhesion, therefore, in the bonding process, we must control the operation time less than half of the adhesive surface dry time. ② Elastic bonding has a certain thickness requirement. In order to obtain the desired thickness, rubber or plastic pads with Shao A hardness equal to or close to the hardness of the rubber layer can be used to ensure. This is very important for bonding.

Installation requirements

  • Check the standard size and pressure class requirements of all piping, which shall be in accordance with the plan drawing.
  • The storage place of pipes should be relatively flat.
  • Prepare to assemble the equipment. Different standards use different devices.
  • Make construction plan according to construction drawings. The preparation of the construction plan is similar to that of other types of pipelines.
  • Equip all piping accessories such as elbow, tee, drain and similar valves.
  • Before installing pipes, the basic dimensions of the earthwork should be checked first to confirm whether they meet the planning requirements
